Guy Magakian of Alexanian's still going strong after 50 years!
Guy Magakian started work at Alexanian's back in June 17, 1957. At 82 years of age (long after many have retired) he is still going strong at the Hamilton West location. That's right where he started 50 years ago. That location was then the cleaning department, from where Guy moved on into sales. The Hamilton Spectator recently ran an article on his achievement. You can check it out here for the full story. Or view a pdf of the article here.
Guy's long work record is amazing in itself, but when you combine that with the quality of his work on the sales floor, you really have the complete package. He was rarely out of the top ten in sales, and was number one many times. He backed up his sales numbers with a level of service that always impressed. The number of people who walk into the store asking for Guy are countless. Once you were Guy's customer, you were in for a long term relationship, often for generations. Many of the children of Guy's customers continue to come by the store for flooring.
Here are a few pictures from his many years at Alexanian's.
